"Art as an element of nature is a timeless question. Is nature the raw material that artists use in their art, or is it rather the model they use for inspiration? The meaning of nature is a universal language, since we are all an integral part of it."

All our senses come into play: the sight of what surrounds us, and the play of light and shadow; colour, a living, changing material, and the concept of time which flows from it; the smell of the ever-new scents of the earth, the air, the plants and flowers; the feel of different textures; feeling in our hands the essence of plant material to try and perceive its inner energy and movement. Feeling with our hands, but listening too: listening to nature's own sounds, evoking images, drawing us into inner worlds. All this, concentrated in a feeling which is intangible, instinctive, but certain: that we belong to nature."

Monday 21 to Saturday 26 July, Danse à Aix presents the Marie-Hélène Desmaris Company in the setting of the Bibémus Quarries.
