Renaissance
The
garden designed by Michel Davo is the fruit of varied reflections
about the Provencal countryside and forest fires, and analyses
how vegetation reconquers land laid bare by fire. This led to
the concept of "renaissance' (new birth), evoking
the extraordinary energy in nature which recolonises the earth
after each cataclysm.
To
illustrate this force, a scenario has been constructed around
an area of virgin land, free of vegetation and protected
from human presence. The visitor looks into the future: with the
passage of time, you can watch the germination of seeds carried
by the wind and the birds.
The
spectator can also become a player by throwing a few seeds.
The geometrical shapes chosen recall the words of Paul Cézanne:
"represent nature by cylinders, cones and spheres".
Totems
A
little way away, half hidden among the trees of the garden, are
the driftwood totems of sculptor Olivier Beaudoin.
